Insights Tab in the Admin Console
The Insights tab in the Admin Console is where you can easily view data on how often your team is using Quip, the type of content they are engaging with, and so much more. This allows you to track things like how Quip usage has changed over time and what type of features (think Spreadsheets or KanBan Boards) your team loves!
To navigate to the Insights tab go to the Admin console and then click the down arrow to expand out the “Insights” section. The Insights page includes two pages by default: Users and Content. If you have Quip & Salesforce connected, you will also see a Salesforce Integrations page.
The User tab gives you great user level data and is broken down into highlights, Active Users and Activity.
The top section highlights monthly usage stats for All Users, Monthly Active Users, Monthly Active Mobile Users, and Monthly Collaborators. “Active Users” are those who have loaded Quip within that time frame and “Collaborators” are users who have edited, commented on, or otherwise engaged with shared content.
The middle section of User Insights is the Active Users graphs. You can toggle between the Users and Users by Platform graphs in the top left to view active users broken down by frequency of activity or by active platforms.
You can customize each graph view by (1) hovering over the graph lines to view specific data points, (2) checking the boxes in the legend, (3) or changing the time frame.
One thing to note on the Users by Platform graph (Web, iOS, Android, Mac or Windows), if a user is active on multiple platforms, they’ll be counted in the totals for every platform on which they’re active. So if they use both Web and iOS, they’ll be captured in both data sets.
The bottom section of the User Insights tab is the Activity data which breaks down the key actions your users are performing in Quip. You can view changes in the number of “Collaborators” over time and hover over the graphs to view specific data points. Keep in mind, whatever date range (1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months) you have selected for the Active Users graph is applied to this section as well.
Export either or both of these datasets to .csv by clicking the “Export to CSV” button in the upper right-hand corner of the Active Users graph. Looking to export user specific date? Click here to learn how to export key information about their profile and usage.
The Content tab is similarly laid out with highlights and more details in the Content and Embedded Elements sections. At the top of the Content page, you can find high-level monthly numbers about your content (documents, slides, and spreadsheets) and see how things are trending over the past month.
Dive deeper into your content and collaboration in Quip with the Content graphs underneath. The Content by Type graph shows your content broken down by type of content (Documents, Spreadsheets or Slides).
The Content by Sharing graph shows content broken down sharing activity (Shared or Private). Just as you can on the Active Users graph you can adjust the time frame, hover over the line for specific data points, and use the legend checkboxes to select which lines are visible.
"Shared content" includes anything that’s been directly shared with other users, added to a Shared or Group folder, or shared via shareable link. "Private content" is content that has never been shared by any mechanism.
The Collaborative Activity graphs below break down changes in specific types of key activity happening in Quip over a specified time frame, capturing comments, messages and likes.
The Embedded Elements section lists all of the various components embedded in your documents — like spreadsheets and various Live Apps — as well as how many documents contain those specific components. Note that if there are documents shared with external users who have access to Live Apps that are not installed in your site, this list might not match up with the list of installed Live Apps in the Live Apps section of your Admin Portal.
If you have Salesforce integrated with Quip, you can measure user adoption with the Quip for Customer 360 Insights dashboard in the Quip Admin Console. Use data to track engagement with Salesforce integrations in Quip and to make the most of your Quip for Customer 360 licenses.
Quantify the number of active users who have opened a Quip document with Salesforce integrations. See how many Quip documents are linked to Salesforce records or have embedded Salesforce live apps and live reports.
The top section shows all the users who have opened a Quip document with a Salesforce integration in the past 91 days.
The graph shows the Viewers, Editors, Commenters and Collaborators over a specific period. By hovering over a data point, you can see a breakdown of numbers for each. This can helpful in seeing how teams are adopting the Salesforce integration, and how they're using it on a regular basis.
The Embedded Integrations section lists all of the various embedded Salesforce components embedded in your documents — like Salesforce Records, Lists and Reports — as well as how many documents contain those specific components.
